Alki

I've lived in the Seattle area for almost two years now and I'd never been to Alki beach until last night. We'd had a barbecue (housewarming party about three months late) and two friends were staying late. We all got talking about how we'd never been to the "famous" Alki beach before so we jumped in the car and alas-we were off. Let me just tell you; Alki is an interesting place. Being the smarties we are, we stopped at the first parking spot we saw, not knowing the real "beach" part wasn't for a few miles more. Yeah so we walked. A lot. Saw some interesting people. Like the Pimp for example, with his bright orange shirt and obnoxious straw hat??? Who does he think he's going to impress with that? We also saw gobs and gobs of teenagers, you know, the real loud kind? It made us all feel old. So we went back to the quieter spot and took pictures of the sunset. On our walk back to the car, we had the most enjoyable experience of watching one of the said teenagers skateboard up to the short concrete wall and then jump INTO the water. See, not all kids are hoodlums. It was a delightful evening.
